We're ridiculously excited to tell you all about our produced work for next year, including the first ever in-the-round production of Michael Frayn’s comedy masterpiece Noises Off, Alan Ayckbourn's 91st play Earth Angel, the UK premiere of Pride and Prejudice adapted for the stage by Kate Hamill, new shows from our brilliant Youth Theatre and Young Company, our 70th birthday party, and lots, lots more.

Youth Arts Festival: Mystery at the Museum - 12 & 13 February
Things have been going missing at the Museum! The Woolly Mammoth has wandered off, the Grecian Urns are nowhere to be seen, and King Tut’s beard is a thing of the past! Join Detective Davies and his hapless assistant Archie to get to the bottom of it all before there’s nothing left.
Education Education Education - 11 - 15 March
The second production from the SJT Young Company!
It's May 1997. Tony Blair has won the election and Katrina and the Waves have won Eurovision. Channel 5 is a month old. No one knows who Harry Potter is. Britain is the coolest place in the world.
At the local secondary school, it's a different story. Miss Belltop-Doyle can't control her Year 10s, Mr Pashley has been put in charge of a confiscated Tamagotchi and Miss Turner is hoping that this muck-up day goes smoother than the last.
A love letter to schools which asks big questions about an education system in special measures, exploring what we're taught, why, and where responsibility lies.
Love's Labour's Lost (more or less) - 27 March - 19 April
A stag do in Ibiza. A hen do in Menorca. What could go wrong? Everything…
Shakespeare's riotous comedy is brought to life in the nineties, featuring belting musical numbers in the era of boy bands and Girl Power from the team who brought you The Comedy of Errors (more or less).
The Owl and the Pussycat Went to See - 29 - 31 May
Join The Owl and the Pussycat on a magical adventure for all the family!
They set sail in a pea-green boat heading for the mystical land where the Bong-Tree grows, and on the way they meet a whole host of charming characters including The Plum Pudding Flea, The Runcible Spoon and Head Jumbly. Our intrepid travellers long to be married, but will they get a happily ever after?
Youth Theatre groups 1, 2 and 3 will be performing David Wood's musical adaptation of Edward Lear's classic poem.
Pride and Prejudice - 3 - 26 July
Jane Austen’s most iconic love story is brought dazzlingly to life on stage.
With sharp humour and sparkling dialogue, this witty stage adaptation brings to life the classic story of love, misunderstandings, and second chances (with plenty of music and dancing! Lose yourself in the world of Regency parties and courtship as hearts race, tongues wag, and passions swirl around the English countryside.
Join us for this UK premiere production, adapted by award-winning playwright Kate Hamill.
The SJT's 70th Birthday Party! - 13 July
On 14 July 1955, an ambitious young theatrical pioneer called Stephen Joseph opened a revolutionary new theatre… on the first floor of Scarborough Library.
We’ll be celebrating our 70 years in style on Sunday 13 July, with, amongst other things, a cornucopia of extracts from some of our favourite plays from those seven decades performed script-in-hand by some of our favourite actors.
Noises Off - 9 August - 6 September
The first ever in-the-round production of Michael Frayn’s comedy masterpiece.
Called “the funniest farce ever written”, Noises Off follows the on and off-stage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through the fictional farce, Nothing On.
Across three acts we witness: the shambolic final rehearsals, a disastrous matinee seen entirely from backstage, and their brilliantly catastrophic final performance.
Earth Angel - 13 September - 11 October
Gerald recently lost his wife of many years. Amy was the light of his life, almost heaven-sent.
Then a mysterious stranger turns up at her wake. He seems like a nice enough chap, washing the dishes and offering to do a shop for Gerald, but is he all that he appears?
Alan Ayckbourn’s 91st play digs deep into one of life’s greatest mysteries – what makes someone a good person? And in this day and age, can you ever really be sure...?
Actors, Audiences & Ayckbourn - 26 - 28 September
Grab your diaries for our next fundraising weekend, featuring a reading of a brand new play by Alan Ayckbourn, an evening with Alan's Archivist, and a host of regular Ayckbourn collaborators discussing what makes starring in an Ayckbourn play so special.
Alongside Alan Ayckbourn's 91st play Earth Angel, our fundraising weekend Actors, Audiences & Ayckbourn will include a rehearsed reading of a never-before-heard play called Men, Meals & Me and It's All Relative, an evening reflecting on the 60th anniversary of Relatively Speaking with Alan's Archivist Simon Murgatroyd, and some of Alan's favourite actors telling tales of starring in Ayckbourn plays over the last 65 years.

Sleeping Beauty - 28 November - 28 December
Our annual Christmas show takes a classic fairy tale and turns it on its head, full of familiar songs, silliness and festive fun.
This Christmas we're revisiting another classic; the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
From the team who brought you UK Theatre award-winning Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin expect a brand new adventure packed with silliness, thrills, spills, singalongs and fantastical family fun.
