We're here to serve Scarborough and give everyone the opportunity to discover and celebrate their creativity whether that's through attending live events in our theatres, singing in our choir, watching your favourite film or performing in our youth theatre.
In short we believe that This is Yours.

The SJT is a Registered Charity (253606) governed by a board of trustees. Meet the team here.

We will inspire and entertain through a high-quality programme of work which reflects the diverse lives of our communities
We will provide a high-quality, year-round programme of productions and creative activity that reflects the interests and lives of our local communities.
We will play an integral civic role in our town and our county
We will actively engage in initiatives and conversations beyond our walls in order to best serve Scarborough. Will we ensure we are actively listening to our communities and hearing their feedback across the full spectrum of our work from post-show feedback surveys to evaluation on our creative learning projects.
We will cultivate an organisation-wide focus on audience engagement
Our audiences are more than just those who watch our shows; they are everyone who engages with us, whether that’s as part of a workshop, in our café, or out in the community. We will instil an audience first approach across all aspects of our work so we can build long-lasting, sustainable relationships with all our audiences.
We will become as environmentally sustainable as possible
We will continue to do our part in combatting the climate crisis by actively considering environmental sustainability in all our outputs. We will work to reduce the energy consumption of our Grade II listed building and aim to become carbon neutral.

We will demonstrate good governance and financial rigour
We can only deliver our aims if we're fit for purpose as an organisation; if we are resilient enough not only to weather changing and difficult times but to thrive in them. We will ensure good governance by adhering to charity law, regularly auditing skills at both senior management and trustee level while underpinning all of this with rigorous financial processes. We aim to build our unrestricted reserves to strengthen the financial stability of the organisation and allow us to respond to/invest in future creative and technological challenges.
