How To Book
You can book your tickets in person, over the phone or on our website.
You can book tickets for events at the SJT through our website, by calling 01723 370541 or popping in to the Box Office. The Box Office counter is the first thing you'll see when you come through the doors.
Box Office opening hours:
Monday - Saturday: 10am - 7.15pm*
We open on Sundays every now and then for events. The Box Office opens two hours before the show starts and closes 15 minutes after the show starts.
*Or 15 minutes after the last performance has started.

We operate a dynamic pricing policy, which means our prices can fluctuate according to demand. This also means:
The best way to get cheap tickets is to book early.
Prices are not fixed, prices may increase with demand.
Last minute tickets may be more expensive.
Every SJT show has an allocation of tickets priced at £10. In addition, anyone under the age of 30 can purchase £10 tickets anywhere in the auditorium for SJT productions and most of the work which tours to us. We have capped our Preview prices at £16 meaning all seats are £10 or £16.

Gift vouchers
Want to give the present of theatre? You can buy SJT Gift Vouchers for any amount which are valid for two years. They can be used for theatre shows, cinema or classes, and we can add a personalised message to them if you wish. Ask at the Box Office or buy your gift vouchers here.
Theatre Tokens
We are now selling Theatre Tokens, the not-for-profit Gift Card that gives back to the industry. Theatre Tokens can be bought and redeemed here, as well as at over 280 venues nationwide and have no expiry date which makes them the easy way to give the gift of theatre. Theatre Tokens can be purchased in person or over the phone.

Discounts for Members
Becoming an SJT Member is a fantastic way to support the theatre and save money. You get 20% off SJT productions, many of our touring shows and £7 film tickets. You also get discounts at Shop at the SJT, the Bar and in Eat Me Cafe. Members can book for all events before anyone else as they get an access to an exclusive pre-sale period.

NHS discounts
NHS staff can get 20% off tickets to all SJT-produced shows. The offer only applies to the staff member's ticket and must be booked via the Box Office. NHS Staff ID must be shown.
This offer is also available to carers with a green CARE badge or holders of a Blue Light badge.
These staff can also purchase a cinema ticket for £6.
Please note, this offer is not valid on tickets for live performance listed at £10 or under.
Group discounts
We offer a 10% discount when booking 10+ full price tickets, and a free booker’s ticket when booking 20+ seats. Please note: this offer is not available in conjunction with any other discount offers including tickets worth £10 or under and exclusions may apply. Under 30s
If you're aged 16-30 or in full-time education, you can get £10 theatre tickets and £6 cinema tickets. Simply complete the form below with proof of age (for example, your driving licence or birth certificate) or proof of student status (such as a letter from your place of study) if you are not under 30 but in full-time education. You'll get a free cinema ticket just for signing up!
FAQ's
Exchanges and Refunds
Tickets are non-refundable, unless an event is cancelled or rescheduled. We can exchange your tickets to a different day of the same production / screening, but tickets cannot be exchanged between different productions / screening. This is provided you contact us at least 3 working days in advance of the performance / screening. This service is offered at a rate of £1.50 per ticket. If the value of the new tickets is higher than the original tickets the difference must be paid, however no refunds will be given if you choose tickets of a lesser value.
Tickets for events that are cancelled or rescheduled after purchase are eligible for exchange and refund and our Box Office team will be in touch with you by email or phone with information specific to your booking.
Please note that the Stephen Joseph Theatre is not liable for any additional costs or expenses you may incur as a result of a cancelled or rescheduled event, including for travel, accommodation or hospitality.
Complaints
If you experience a problem whilst at the Stephen Joseph Theatre or during an event, please bring it to the attention of the Duty Manager immediately. We regret we may not be able to offer refunds or exchanges retrospectively unless you have let us know of a problem during your visit.
Reselling
Tickets must not be resold. This includes the resale of tickets for profit, in which circumstances the Stephen Joseph Theatre reserves the right to cancel the booking or refuse admission without notice and without being obliged to refund monies. If you can no longer attend the performance we are able resell your tickets once an event is sold out. If you have purchased physical tickets those must be returned to Box Office before they can be resold.
Seat Allocation
Occasionally it may be necessary to change a customer’s seat allocation. The Stephen Joseph Theatre reserves the right to make these changes without prior notification or obligation to refund monies or exchange tickets. We will make every endeavour to contact customers in advance to advise of any changes at the earliest opportunity.

Where possible we indicate any content warnings on the show page. Please click the ‘Content warning’ button to view them. Please contact the Box Office with any concerns before booking tickets.
Admission
The Stephen Joseph Theatre reserves the right to refuse admission to any ticket holder to ensure the comfort and safety of our staff and audiences.
Audience members are not permitted to bring alcohol onto Stephen Joseph Theatre premises.
Latecomers will be admitted at the discretion of the Duty Manager at a suitable point in the performance. Please note, some performances have a strict no latecomers policy and we are unable to refund ticket purchases if you miss the performance start time.
During Your Visit
Stephen Joseph Theatre has zero tolerance of all forms of abuse, harassment, sexual harassment and bullying. We expect that all visitors will treat staff, performers and each other with courtesy and respect. We reserve the right to end any visit without warning and will report all incidents of threats, harassment, or discrimination to North Yorkshire Police.
Photography & Video
Photography, video and sound recording of performances is strictly forbidden. Anyone found to be recording a performance may be asked to leave.
The use of mobile phones is not permitted during performances.
