What is Propel?
Propel is our new Creative Careers Programme for young people between the ages of 15 and 17. The free programme runs on set days between January and July 2026 and offers young creatives the chance to gain hands-on industry experience across all theatre departments.
Aimed at teenagers from the Scarborough area, the programme provides a unique opportunity to explore the breadth of creative careers that can be found at the theatre.
Applicants will work with teams across Production, Producing, Creative Engagement, Fundraising and Marketing. They will see work in pre-production, take part in workshops, support events and develop backstage skills.
Why?
Propel is not just about engaging with industry-based experiences, it is also an opportunity to explore creative preferences, become part of a team (and wider theatre network), work to meet deadlines and learn more about theatre.
In addition to this, participants will be given:
Staff offers, including ticket discounts and invitations to press nights
T-shirt and a mug to hang in our green room to feel part of the team
References for CV/ Employment/ Further Education applications
A Propel Programme Pack with essential information about the building and the staff teams, a calendar of things to see and do, mini tasks, careers sign-postings and much more!
How?
Places are available through application and interview although they are limited as we are a small team.
Applications for 2026 are now closed, check back later in the year if you'd like to apply for the next intake.
