Stephen Joseph Theatre
About
The Young Company is different from a youth theatre. It's designed to provide dedicated young theatre makers (aged 16 to 25) with a regular series of workshops, training, and opportunities that professionalise your work.
You'll learn a range of performance disciplines, increase your understanding of your own practice, and develop ideas. Lots of that happens across many brilliant youth theatres, but what a Young Company gives is the opportunity to really invest in the growth of talented individuals and share the talent of Scarborough and surrounding area with a wider world.
The company meet weekly to train, and rehearse for the annual Young Company production.
After that we hope to make work to tour to other settings, collaborate with national and international partners, and bit by bit, make a major contribution to the story of Scarborough as a brilliant place for creative people to live and grow.
There's just ten places, so that we can ensure we're providing everyone with the mentoring and support they deserve.
