Scarborough Fringe 2026

We're delighted to be part of this year's Scarborough Fringe for the third year running!

Part of Scarborough Fair, it's all about showcasing incredible cultural experiences in different venues across the town between 12 - 21 June.

Here at the SJT, you'll be able to see:

Monologue Slam (13 June)

Support local actors perform their best monologues live, competing to win a professionally filmed scene for their showreel!

Playwright's Room (16 June)

A short play created collectively by the Scarborough Playwrights' Room. This show tells a story culminated through the collective efforts of a range of writers from in or around Scarborough - come and support our wealth of local talent!

You Decide (18 June)

Twenty-seven incidents. Twenty-seven calls to the police. Not once believed. You Decide is a one-man show about a male victim of domestic abuse and the system that failed him at every turn.

Charged with the abuse he reported. Forced to sign a statement saying he made it all up. Left to find his own way home.

Raw, urgent, and impossible to look away from, this is theatre that asks hard questions about who we believe, who we protect, and who we leave behind.

Poetry Salon Live at the SJT (19 June)

Have you noticed? Poetry's enjoying a golden age in Scarborough.

Here, in 70 minutes of words, rhythms and music, is a set of contrasting local poet-performers. All are accessible and enjoyable. All offer fresh ways to see, feel and understand a world we sometimes find ourselves growing numb to.

Aiden Jones: Chopin's Nocturne (19 June)

I grew up playing classical piano, but failed my conservatory audition at 18. After some time focusing on MDMA, I started stand-up comedy. During the pandemic I came back to the piano and now I've combined them.

It's my favourite piece, Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major, presented with jokes by a bald, Australian ****head with a beard.

Artist's Brunch (20 June)

Come and join the SJT team for a creative catch up over a coffee and a croissant in the Meeting Point community cafe space and check in with local artists, creatives and practitioners.

Writing a Play with Kat-Rose Martin (20 June)

The return of last year's popular workshop with playwright Kat Rose-Martin. Where do you start when writing a play? This workshop will focus on generating some initial ideas which might one day flourish into a full-length play.

Besieged (20 June)

Besieged is the explosive final chapter in a trilogy created with young people from Eastfield, following Battleground (2024) and the double award-winning Feral (2025).

The play centres on a house party that spirals out of control, drawing hundreds of teenagers to a single home and bringing riot police onto the estate. In the aftermath of that night, Besieged explores the complex relationship between young people, the communities they live in, and the spaces they claim as their own.

Tickets are available online, by calling our Box Office on 01723 370541, or by dropping in next time you're passing.
