Announcing new productions for 2023
We're delighted to announce five new productions opening at the SJT in 2023. We've got comedies, musicals, and more. There's something for everyone in our new season, with further announcements to come.
These five productions will go on sale on Wednesday 23 November at 10am to our Circle Members. To find out more about becoming a member click here. The general public will be able to book tickets from Wednesday 30 November at 10am.

The Comedy of Errors (more or less) – 30 March to 15 April
A madcap retelling of Shakespeare’s most bonkers farce. Expect mistaken identity, theatrical chaos & belting musical numbers. Originally by Shakespeare, messed around with by Elizabeth Godber and Nick Lane.

The 39 Steps – 30 June to 29 July
Our production of the gripping and hilarious whodunit is back by popular demand. Packed with nonstop laughs, some good old-fashioned romance and a whole host of colourful characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four).

Blonde Bombshells of 1943 – 2 to 26 August
Join The Blonde Bombshells, the most glamorous all-girl swing band in the North, as they dodge Hitler’s bomb to put on the performance of their lives. A warm and witty musical play filled with glorious live swing classics by Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters, George Formby and Fats Waller.

Blonde Bombshells of 1943 is written by Alan Plater (The Beiderbecke Trilogy).
Constant Companions – 7 September to 7 October
In the not-too-distant future humans have turned to artificial friends for companionship without compromise. Alan Ayckbourn weaves together the story of highflying lawyer Lorraine, lonely bachelor Don and technician Winston with characteristic humour and compassion.

Beauty and the Beast – 1 to 30 December
Next Christmas, join us for the thrilling tale of Beauty and The Beast. As usual our Christmas show will be packed full of songs, silliness and festive fun. From the team that sailed you to Treasure Island, took you up the Beanstalk and down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.
