About
Celebrate with us – 30 years in the building you know and love!
Three decades ago, we moved from Westwood into Scarborough’s iconic Art Deco Odeon, beginning a remarkable chapter in the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s history. This Easter, we’re celebrating with a very special fundraising event: a rare rehearsed reading of Stiles & Drewe’s Olivier Award–winning musical Honk!, with a talented cast accompanied by a live pianist.
Since premiering at the SJT in 1997, Honk! has achieved phenomenal international success, with over 8,000 productions worldwide and the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical. Based on The Ugly Duckling, it remains one of theatre’s most celebrated and enduring shows, warming hearts across the globe with its universal story of difference, resilience and belonging.
This one-off concert brings together a host of SJT favourites from over the years to perform the show’s much-loved score, promising a joyful afternoon of live music and laughter as we celebrate this wonderful milestone together.
All proceeds from this event will support the SJT’s New Work Fund, helping develop brand-new productions and nurture emerging talent. The Stephen Joseph Theatre is a Registered Charity (253606), and every ticket purchased directly supports the future of creative work on our stages.
