What's Northern Exposure / The Micro Short Film Fund?

Filmmakers based in the North of England can submit their shorts of any form, genre or narrative approach for consideration to be a part of the Northern Exposure scheme each year.

The Micro Short Film Fund offers grants of £1000 to emerging filmmakers aged 16-25 who have successful applied to the scheme to make a short film with support from Film Hub North's Talent and Development team. The fund is part of the Region's BFI Film Academy programme which offers opportunities for ambitious 16-25 year olds, anywhere in the UK, to get to know more about film, gain filmmaking skills and how to forge a career in the screen industries.

The programme selected for Coast to Credits are all films made by filmmakers based in Yorkshire and Humberside. Our Regional BFI Film Academies are currently based in Scarborough, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford.
