Monologue Slam

Calling all aspiring actors: showcase your talent at this Monologue Slam with the SJT & CU Scarborough!

Are you an emerging actor looking for an opportunity to shine on stage and receive valuable feedback from industry professionals? Look no further! The SJT, in collaboration with CU Scarborough, is excited to announce a Monologue Slam - an exciting initiative aimed at showcasing new talent and nurturing aspiring actors.

The Monologue Slam is your chance to perform on the SJT stage and present your work to a panel of industry experts. Only 20 monologues will be featured. This event promises to be a fantastic platform for emerging actors to showcase their talent.

The details:

We have three different categories you can enter, dependent on your age:

• Ages 16-18 & 19-21: Your monologue should be from a published play, no more than 2 minutes in length;

• 22+: New Writing category. This should be an original piece of writing, written and performed by the entrant.

The prizes:

• Ages 16-18 & 19-21: a one-to-one session with a professional director, developing your monologue to get you audition ready, and two tickets to a performance of your choice at the SJT.

• 22+: a one-to-one session with a professional director/dramaturg developing your writing and performance, and two tickets to a performance of your choice at the SJT.

How to enter:

• Send your self tape containing the monologue you're going to perform to Siara Illing-Ahmed at CU Scarborough;

• Include your name, the category you're applying for, the name of the playwright, and character you're playing;

• If you're entering the 22+ new writing category, please include the name of your monologue and character;

• Submission deadline 7 October.
