About

In an unspecified future, space adventurer Barbarella is sent by the Earth's president to retrieve missing scientist Durand Durand from the Tau Ceti planetary system. Durand is the inventor of a laser-powered weapon, the positronic ray, which Earth's leaders fear will cause mass destruction.

Crash landing, she encounters an angel, an evil queen, and the ‘Excessive Pleasure’ machine...

Our monthly Moviedrome screenings bring you the chance to discover - or rediscover! - a choice cut of cinema that's cult, classic or somewhere in-between. The films are hand-picked by our resident film expert George Cromack, who introduces each screening. Moviedrome is a mix of guilty pleasures you never tire of seeing and overlooked gems you'll wonder why you've never seen!

‘One the most iconic cult films to come out of the 1960s, providing an equally iconic role for Jane Fonda with a supporting cast including David Hemmings, this is a playful, colourful, silly and sexy splash of pure escapist fantasy’ - George Cromack

‘A product of the sexual liberation of the 1960s... a solid cult hit with killer dolls, a blind angel and the orgasm-inducing Excessive Machine, every scene revels in glorious psychedelic excess.’ - Simon Wardell, The Guardian

Contains infrequent sexualised nudity and moderate sex references
