It’s our aim to find amazing opportunities for creative people in our region and provide entry routes to on and off-stage roles in the theatre, as well as the wider creative industry.
Here’s just some of the ways you can get involved at SJT.
Writers
SJT has a rich history of developing, commissioning and producing new writing. In total, we've produced a staggering 700 new plays and counting. If you’ve been working on a play and you’d like to submit it to us, find out more about our current policy and how you go about it.
Casting
At SJT, we believe in supporting those on our doorstep. That’s why we prioritise local and regional actors, and try to employ them as much as possible in our productions, in readings and in our participation work. Casting for all our SJT produced shows is done by our Casting Director, Sarah Hughes CDG. Please direct all casting enquiries to her.
BA (Hons) Degree in Acting
In conjunction with Coventry University Scarborough Campus (CUSC), we run a BA (Hons) Acting degree. As industry partner, SJT offers a range of professional networks, opportunities, workshops and teaching. We even involve all third year students in our Christmas production for under 6s.
Scarborough Creatives
Scarborough Creatives is a network specifically for creative people from Scarborough. It was founded by the SJT and is coordinated by ARCADE, in collaboration with COAST, with support from Arts Council England. It’s a way for creative people who live in the borough to share job vacancies, opportunities, collaborate and talk. SJT also offers support in the form of bursaries, careers advice, workshops and more. The group is for anyone who is creative in any way, at any level, or ability.
