With writing now claimed to have originated in ancient Egypt, Professor Jo Fletcher of the University of York explores the beginnings of the written word and its use in king lists, tax records, love poems, medical texts and the first recorded battle in history. Jo is advisor to a number of museums and author of nine books (including The Story of Egypt) and regularly appears on television, from BBC2’s ‘Immortal Egypt with Joann Fletcher’ to BAFTAwinning ‘Mummifying Alan: Egypt’s Last Secret’.
